Free IFC 4.3 converter — online, no sign-up
IFCraft is a free IFC 4.3 converter — a CAD to IFC converter that runs entirely in your browser. It takes DWG, DXF, Rhino 3DM, LandXML, glTF or OBJ as input and produces a valid IFC file in IFC4x3 ADD2 (IFC 4.3), IFC4 or IFC2x3 — including alignments, georeferencing, property sets and classification. No installation, no account, and no upload: your models are processed locally.

Why IFC 4.3?
IFC 4.3 (IFC4X3) is the first IFC schema designed for infrastructure: it adds alignments (IfcAlignment), linear placement along an axis, and spatial classes such as IfcBridge, IfcRoad, IfcRailway and IfcMarineFacility. It is published as ISO 16739-1:2024 and is increasingly required on road and rail projects — in the Czech Republic through the DS SFDI data standard. Most desktop tools still need paid licenses or plug-ins to write it; IFCraft does it for free, in the browser.
What the converter does
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 · Read | DWG, DXF, Rhino 3DM, LandXML, glTF or OBJ is parsed locally (layers, groups, colors, units, alignments) |
| 2 · Structure | You build the element tree (site, bridge, road…) and map source layers to IFC classes |
| 3 · Enrich | Property sets, materials, CCI or other classifications, documents, georeferencing (e.g. S-JTSK / EPSG:5514) |
| 4 · Export | A schema-valid STEP file with deterministic GUIDs and correct MVD headers is written by your browser |
| 5 · Check | Optionally validate the result against an IDS requirement specification before you hand it over |
Supported conversions
- DWG to IFC 4.3 — AutoCAD drawings (2007–2018) incl. 3D solids
- DXF to IFC 4.3 — AutoCAD / Civil 3D drawings with meshes and 3D solids
- Rhino 3DM to IFC 4.3 — meshes, Breps and layer hierarchy from Rhino / Grasshopper
- LandXML to IFC 4.3 — road/rail alignments to IfcAlignment
- glTF (.glb) and OBJ meshes from any 3D tool
FAQ
Is it really free? What's the catch?
There is none: IFCraft is free to use and has no premium tier. It is built and maintained by Michal Marvan as part of the checkthebim toolset.
Is the output really valid IFC?
Yes — schema-valid STEP with deterministic GUIDs, correct MVD headers (Coordination View 2.0 / Reference View 1.2 / Alignment-based View) and proper georeferencing entities. You can additionally check the export against an IDS specification directly in the app.
Can it convert IFC to other formats?
No — IFCraft converts into IFC. For viewing and validating existing IFC files, see its sister tool BIM Checker.
